Recently, TikToker Sean (@seanmiller_effect) has sworn off dating women with children, and one chaotic third date explains exactly why.
What started as a low-key movie night quickly turned into an unpaid babysitting shift with no warning and no preparation.
So, this woman had invited him over to her house for their third date. She wanted to watch a movie, enjoy some takeout at home, and just hang out, so he brought the food.
But when she answered the door, he was met with a completely different vibe than he had expected. Instead of a casual, relaxed evening, she was visibly distraught and crying uncontrollably, clearly overwhelmed.
She explained that her ex had her dog, and the dog was extremely sick. She didn’t know what to do or if her dog was going to die.
As Sean tried to process what was happening, the situation escalated further. Out of nowhere, she asked him to watch her kids so she could go check on her dog.
In a normal situation, Sean probably would’ve just left, but he was caught off guard, so he agreed to stay and watch her kids. He sat there for an hour and a half, playing with a five-year-old and a three-year-old until one of her friends finally showed up to take over.
That experience left a lasting impression on him. It was enough to make him realize that dating someone with young children simply isn’t for him.
It wasn’t about judging single moms at all, but about understanding his own boundaries and what he’s willing to take on.

While the woman did seem like she was dealing with a stressful situation, a third date should not come with surprise babysitting duties. For Sean, it was a hard lesson learned.
In the comments section, many single mothers actually agreed with Sean, saying that they would never introduce a man to their kids so early in the dating process.
They emphasized how important it was to protect children and keep dating lives separate until trust is established.
“Single mom here. I would never bring a guy around my kid for months or until I feel it’s right. That could be six months or so. You come over when I don’t have my kid. Point blank!” exclaimed one user.
“As a mother, I believe bringing a man around your kids that soon shows poor judgment. My son is 16, and he’s only met one man I’ve dated,” pointed out another.
“At least she didn’t ask you to sleep with her and the two kids sleeping in the same room. That happened to me. I told her I’m going to the car to get the protection, and I just drove off,” chimed in a third.
