Ten years ago, TikToker Alex (@youraveragealex) went on her first-ever date when she was 19 years old, and it turned out to be with a married couple. At the time, she was working at a popular beauty retail store and downloaded a dating app to see what was out there.
She ended up matching with her female coworker. She also matched with a guy who was the coworker’s husband, but Alex didn’t know that at first.
Her coworker messaged her, saying that she had matched with both her and her husband. They wanted to take Alex out on a date, so she agreed.
On the day of the date, her coworker’s husband picked her up. Alex had never met him before. Everything was going well, and they were making conversation.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Alex expected her coworker to be there, but she was strangely absent. He told her that his wife was working and would meet up with them later. Alex then ordered a plate of veggies since she was vegan.
Eventually, they went to pick her up. However, they drove right past the beauty retailer where they worked, which confused Alex. Her coworker’s husband explained that she was at her second job, dancing.
Alex had never been to a club before, so she was stunned by the whole experience. When her coworker came onstage, her husband handed Alex a stack of dollar bills. Not wanting to be rude, Alex gently placed the bills onto her coworker’s writhing body. Finally, the dance was over.
Her coworker’s husband suggested that they go back to his place. His wife still needed to finish up her shift. So, they went back to their house, and Alex started playing video games out of discomfort.
At one point, he said that he really wanted to kiss her. When Alex asked if that was okay with his wife, he decided to text her and ask.

She was super nervous, and her stomach began rumbling. She kept passing gas and tried to cover it up by coughing, but it clearly wasn’t working.
Alex had him drive her home. Thankfully, her gut stopped bubbling in the car. When they pulled up to her house, he tried to kiss her again, but she said no and jumped out of the car.
After that, she continued working at the beauty retailer, but she never spoke to her coworker again.
Many TikTok users found themselves in similar situations when they were about the same age and described their own stories in the comments section.
“I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who fell for this scam. I met up with a couple when I was around 19 or 20 years old. They were well into their forties, and when we went home, I literally met their kids who were the same age as me, and at the time, I didn’t think it was weird, but looking back, yeah, that was weird,” shared one user.
“I literally matched separately with a couple once, and they were the worst,” stated another.
“This happened to me, too. I was 21 and didn’t realize that my coworker, who was older than me by a decade, was trying to have a [hook up with] me and her husband. I do not roll that way at all, and they wouldn’t let me leave,” commented a third.
