Sometimes, people who confess to cheating do it because their conscience gets the best of them and it’s too crushing to keep the secret.
His girlfriend waited a full year to come clean, and the story she’s telling has more holes in it than she probably realizes. Now he’s trying to figure out what to do with all of it.
This 30-year-old man and his 26-year-old girlfriend have been dating for the last year, and they just so happen to work in the exact same industry, but they do have jobs at competing companies, not the same one.
At the beginning of their relationship, his girlfriend apparently cheated on him while he was out of town, and this is something she only recently owned up to.
She has kept this a secret from him for close to a year, and who knows why she chose to spill the tea to him after all this time.
“Her then boss at the time invited folks over to his place. She ended up being the last one to leave and ended up making out with her boss,” he explained.
“She said they cuddled [without her top on] and talked on the couch for a while, but then went home later that night with nothing else escalating. Mind you, her boss was never aware that she was in a relationship.”
“I asked her why she would do such a thing, and her justification was that she didn’t mean to cheat or see him romantically, but felt that if she didn’t please him somehow, she might not progress in the company or get promotions. The next morning, she said she regretted justifying herself in that way and that she was only trying to be strategic in the moment.”
He informed his girlfriend that he needed to take some time to think about her confession, and since then, she has not granted him the space he requested.

Instead, his girlfriend has been texting him daily, insisting that she loves him and feels immense regret for sleeping with her boss in order to land a promotion.
His girlfriend thinks they can overcome her infidelity and says he’s the man she pictures herself spending the rest of her life with. As if that absolves her of her sins.
“I get that she needs support from me after this story, but also it’s time to end the relationship ASAP, [isn’t it]?” he wondered.
Ok, so I think she’s still not telling him the truth about what happened with her boss, because it makes no sense that she would take off half of her clothes, then just stop to chit-chat with her boss all night.
I think she went all the way with him, but she’s afraid to own up to all of the awful things she did that evening. I mean, it does sound better to frame things in the way that she has in lieu of giving him all of the dirty details.
I don’t believe his relationship is worth saving, and he should waste no time getting rid of his girlfriend.
