In the name of justice, TikToker Alexandra (@agachilli) sued her dad’s murderer for $45 million and won, but she will never see a cent of that money. Sometimes, a victory doesn’t always come with a payout.

Alexandra has been sharing her story online, explaining why she chose to sue the man who was behind her dad’s death, knowing that he didn’t have any money. Suing him was about ensuring that every possible avenue of justice was pursued.

Her dad’s murderer hired a hitman for $9,500 to shoot and kill her dad. It was a calculated plan that required a lot of time and effort to make sure his life was taken.

It was definitely not an accident or a last-minute decision by any means. The level of premeditation made the loss even harder to process.

Once her dad’s murderer was found guilty in the criminal trial, Alexandra and her family were faced with what came next. They had to figure out how to move forward after the legal system had already done its part.

They knew they wanted him to be held accountable in every way the system allowed. So, the answer for them was a civil lawsuit.

“I don’t think that accountability should be measured on whether somebody has money or not,” she said.

“He took something away from my family and I that we could never replace. He stole my dad’s life, and the only way that we could push back was legally, financially, publicly, and we were going to do that.”

Even if the perpetrator didn’t have a dollar to his name, they wanted to send a message and have an additional formal and legal record stating that this person was responsible, not just for a crime, but for the lasting damage done to her family.

It was also a way of reclaiming some sense of control in a situation where so much had been taken away.

Alexandra often hears about victims forgiving their abuser or the person responsible for something horrible, but she admits that she is just not the forgiving type.

She wants her dad’s murderer to feel like he has nothing and that he pays for her father’s death physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her father’s death did not just leave behind an emotional void. It altered the course of her life.

“I do not feel bad for this guy at all, and if taking a civil suit out on this guy was part of the process, I was going to do that,” she stated.

“This guy stole my normal transition into adulthood. He took away my security. He took away my stability. He took away my guidance. Like, there’s no way that I’m letting this guy get away with anything.”
