Usually, when someone does you wrong, they’re at least sensible enough not to twist the narrative and broadcast it on social media for the world to see, but that’s not the case with her stepsister.

After witnessing the posts her stepsister is making online, minimizing the damage she did to her, she’s thinking it’s time to disentangle fiction from the truth.

Back when this 21-year-old girl was 13, her dad moved them in with a girl named Claire, who had two kids, Ben and Ally. Ben is 3 years older than her and Ally is 1 year older than she is.

She hardly knew Ally and Ben prior to being thrown under one roof with them, so their living situation was uncomfortable, to say the least.

Ally and Ben lived in the house full-time since they didn’t speak to their dad, and she spent 30% of her time there, as she was mainly with her mom.

“The dynamics in that house were weird and toxic. I acknowledge that. But Ally took so much of her anger out on me and bullied me for years, on and off,” she explained.

“All the hostility culminated in Ally spreading explicit photos of me that she got from recording me in my closet secretly. It was Ben who ended up snitching on her when rumours made it to a group chat he was in.”

“More drama ensued, my dad and Claire ended up on the brink of divorce, until one day I came to my dad’s for custody time, and Ally was gone. Claire and my dad wouldn’t say where she was for a long time, but eventually Ben found out Claire sent her to one of those youth wilderness programmes (you can research the general idea. Those places should be illegal).”

Ally spent more than a year at the wilderness camp, and Claire apparently used her college fund to pay for the whole thing.

Wilderness camps are wildly expensive to attend, and the one Ally went to didn’t have much of an education program, so when she came home, she had to finish high school and graduate a year behind schedule. When Ally was done, she promptly had to go get a job.

A year ago, Ally moved in with one of her friends, and then began opening up online and to her family members about her experiences at the wilderness camp.

She wasn’t upset by this, as she’s aware of how horrible wilderness camps can be, and she felt that Ally was entitled to share her side of the story from that standpoint.

Ally’s cousin sent her screenshots of what Ally’s been posting on social media, and this greatly angered her, as Ally claimed to have been sent away for acting out.

“This [made me mad], because my dad paid a lot of money to a security company trying to check if my images had ended up on the freaking dark web, and she’s out here calling that acting out?” she wondered.

They never mentioned why Ally was sent away since Claire was so embarrassed, and Ally came close to facing criminal charges for her behavior. Ally’s extended family never found out why she had to live in a wilderness camp.

Not only did she see Ally spreading lies, but she also noticed that Ally’s extended family members and her boyfriend were commenting in support of her.

She doesn’t think her boyfriend would be fine with the truth, considering he has a little sister, and she’s willing to bet he wouldn’t be cool if what happened to her happened to his sibling.

“I’m ranting, but needless to say, it brought up a lot. And a large part of me is considering making a post telling the truth about what Ally did,” she continued.

“My profiles are private; only the extended family would see [them] (of people we both know). To be clear, nothing excuses whatever happened to Ally at that camp. But I feel like she’s erasing the very real harm she did to me by grouping it in with typical teen angst.”

“But on the other hand, maybe I’m just being petty by making that everyone else’s problem. The only person whose opinion I’ve asked IRL is Ben, who thinks I should do it, but, bless his heart, he could major in confrontation with a minor in escalation tactics.”

She’s left wondering if it would be wrong for her to tell the truth about what Ally did that caused her to get sent to the wilderness camp, since she wants it to be known that Ally isn’t the only victim here.

I think Ally deserves to be named and shamed for minimizing what actually happened. Time to humble this girl. It’s shocking that Ally doesn’t understand the gravity of the situation.

What do you think? Does she have the right to set the record straight publicly?
