Coming home after a long night out is supposed to be the easy part. You kick off your shoes, rinse off in a nice warm shower, climb into bed, scroll on your phone for a few minutes, and call it a night. The last thing anyone expects is to discover that you’re not alone while going through your nightly routine.
One night, TikToker Mackenzie O’Connell (@mackenzieaoconnell) came home and found a random man sleeping underneath her bed. That night, she returned at around midnight. Usually, she came home with friends, but this time, she was alone.
A friend came to check on her at around 12:30 a.m. At that point, she was already in bed and had begun to doze off. All of a sudden, she felt something move under her bed. Her first thought was that a wild animal had somehow gotten in.
As she continued to lie in bed, it felt more and more like someone was pushing it back and forth. She jumped up, sprinted out the door into the hallway, and called her friends. When she told them that her bed was moving, they were in disbelief.
Curiosity got the better of her, so Mackenzie decided to take a cautious peek into her room. That’s when she saw the frightening sight of a strange man who pulled himself out from underneath her bed.
He stared back at her with dead eyes. She freaked out and ran back into the hallway.
While she was waiting for her friends to show up, the man started peeking out the bedroom door, making the already horrifying situation even more unsettling. When her friends finally arrived, they found the man lying on Mackenzie’s bed as though he lived there.
“I’ve never seen him in my entire life, and they are shoving him out of the room because we’re having a little bit of trouble getting him out,” recalled Mackenzie.
“I see this guy come out of my room, and he’s holding my vape. I’m like wrestling with this guy to give it back…This guy is obliterated, like so drunk, which does not excuse anything.”
At that point, it was really late, and all she wanted to do was go to sleep. After they kicked the guy out, she fell asleep with the lights on at around 4:00 a.m.
Later that day, one of her friends accompanied her to report the incident to her apartment complex and review the security footage to see how the man got inside. They also filed a police report.
It turned out that he was in Mackenzie’s room for about 20 minutes before she noticed him. Her front door hadn’t been locked, even though she thought it was.
Of course, she has been traumatized by the incident and will be sleeping with a friend from now on.
