She Wore Colored Contacts For Halloween And They Nearly Left Her Blind: Now She’s Making Sure Other People Don’t Put Their Eyes At Risk Like This

Jo had to wear an eyepatch over her left eye for more than 2 whole weeks, and for 4 days after the incident, she was not even able to open her left eye at all.

She also was left unable to work for one week, and she had to be put on painkillers. According to the FDA, it’s actually not legal for you to buy any contact lenses that don’t come from a legitimate doctor.

“Any contact lenses that are not prescribed by a doctor are illegal and could cause you harm,” the FDA noted in a recent statement.

“You may want to have the perfect look for Halloween or look like your favorite movie star or singer, but choosing to change the look of your eyes with contact lenses could cause a lot of damage to your eyesight if you get them without the input of your eye care professional.”

Now, Jo is sharing her story across social media to alert people to the dangers that can come from wearing these fun-seeming contacts.
