Her Mentally Ill Mother Moved In With Her, Again, And Is Making Life Unimaginably Tough So She’s Wondering How To Deal With It

She will not let the woman clean, sleep with her dog, and even tampers with the temperature control in the woman’s bedroom. Then, at night, things become even worse.

“She screams at the stuff she sees and, whenever I bring up her moving out, acts like she doesn’t hear me. I am at my wit’s end,” the woman said.

She has even looked into getting an ECO (Emergency Custody Order), but it is not possible unless her mother threatens to harm herself or others.

This woman is at a loss for what to do anymore. She has been taking care of her mother since she was only twenty-one years old and even dropped out of college to ensure that her mother did not end up homeless.

The saddest part is that her mother treated her terribly as a child, yet she still feels responsible for her wellbeing.

“She was mentally and physically abusive to me growing up and was a drug abuser. Now, I feel like my life will only revolve around taking care of her, and I hate myself for how much I love her regardless of all the cruel stuff she put me through,” the woman said.

The woman has dreams and goals of her own. She wants to have a family and be happy, which she cannot do with her mother around.

But, making the choice to cease caring for her is also very difficult. So now, the woman is seeking advice on dealing with her mother.

How would you navigate this upsetting situation? At what point should the woman finally put herself first?
