She pressed her best friend to find out what was going on, but her best friend insisted she would fill her in later.
A few hours later, she did see her best friend in person, and her best friend revealed that she was only “hanging out” with her mom’s friend’s ex-husband.
“I was like uh—That’s weird? He’s literally older than my mom,” she explained. “And she was like no it’s not weird, when it’s just me and him you can’t even tell the age difference, we just have fun and laugh and talk about things.”
“I asked her if it was physical and she said “yeah kinda”. I asked her how long they’ve been hanging out and she said, “IDK it just kinda happened.” She begged me not to tell anyone because she said too many people would jump to conclusions and she didn’t want to hear people’s opinions.”
She does believe that her best friend isn’t that similar to their peers given the fact that she’s more intelligent and was forced to grow up fast given her family situation, so she thinks that could be why her best friend feels a connection to this guy.
She understands there might not be much she can do to prevent her best friend from having a relationship with him, but it all bothers her a lot.
Her best friend has assured her that “everything is fine and she has it all under control” but she can’t accept their relationship.
She did promise to not tell her mom about this secret relationship, but she still feels that this is all off.
