Her Fiancé Put Her Down At Her Own Party Before Throwing It In Her Face That She Used To Be Homeless

If that wasn’t sad enough, her fiancé pointed out to everyone that “the only reason” she even was able to make it was due to her uncle. While this is kind of true, it’s not the whole truth.

The words that left her fiancé’s mouth that really infuriated her though were yet to come.

“The thing that struck me the most was him saying “jokingly” to his friends that he played a huge role in where I am today (even though I literally met him after I landed my job) and that my homelessness was not a big deal because I only spent 6 months being homeless before my relative helped,” she said.

“It just felt humiliating and invalidating, so I also “jokingly” retorted back saying at least ‘I am not a trust fund baby who was handed everything in life and had his parents pay part of his mortgage’, his colleagues laughed at that and I could see my fiancé was not pleased.”

Her retort did get her fiancé to stop publicly putting her down for the remainder of the party. When their guests had gone home for the day, her fiancé accuse her of destroying “his image” for what she said about him.

She stood up for herself and let her fiancé know that she was just copying his own behavior, and she knew he was aware that she was upset, yet he kept putting her down.

Her fiancé is denying that he did anything wrong and he believes she’s just overreacting.

She’s left feeling completely bewildered. She admits it was not nice of her to say what she did to her fiancé, but she only did it to get him to stop making digs at her.

In the moment, she couldn’t figure out another way to get him to lay off, and she felt really embarrassed.

Do you think she did anything wrong here, or is this entirely on her fiancé? You can read the original post on Reddit here.
