She let her mom know that she is graduating with other girls who are planning on wearing suits, though her mom hit back that they’re all just weird.
Her mom then pleaded with her to be like everyone else who graduates and that she can pick another day to do something outside the norm.
“She wants me to show my shoulders but that’s the exact part I’m super self-conscious about,” she continued.
“Everything I found shows my cleavage way too much and I’m not comfortable wearing that after what happened at prom. She said it’s fine if I looked fat but her words aren’t very convincing now.”
She wants to feel good when she graduates. She wants to feel confident in her body. She wants to prevent her dad from remarking on how she looks.
After her mom refused to accept the fact that she’s going to dress in a suit so she can feel good about herself for a change, she said to her mom that she can just stay home, and so can her dad too.
Her mom accused her of being mean for telling them all to stay home if they can’t get behind her outfit, but she wants to have one day of her life where those closest to her aren’t putting her down over her body.
She’s left wondering if it wasn’t so nice of her to uninvite her mom from her graduation ceremony all over her not wanting to wear a dress.
