Pamela Anderson Announced A New Documentary With Netflix In Response To Hulu’s Short Series, Which She Never Actually Provided Consent For

But, recent statements made by cast members– specifically Sebastian Stan– are dividing the online community.

In an Instagram post, Sebastian described his gratitude for the opportunity to play Tommy Lee and how thankful he is for an Emmy nomination.

However, he also made some questionable remarks about the show’s intent.

Pam & Tommy is about a crime that took place without consent,” Sebastian wrote. “It was a crime on privacy, a crime on family, and a crime that we were ALL a culprit of– as media and audience combined– and it is now more timely than ever.”

“I hope this can only help continue the conversation we had hoped to bring to light and that we can remember to re-examine our projections and our salacious attitudes not only towards @PamelaAnderson and @TommyLee, but also towards ourselves and our exploitation of one another.”

And while these sentiments are valid, they are also quite hypocritical coming from a starring cast member of a show that did not ever receive consent from Pamela Anderson herself.

That’s right, Hulu never gained the consent of Pamela Anderson to develop this short series.

Instead, the show’s producers were able to create the show without her permission after acquiring the rights to a Rolling Stone tell-all article about the scandal published in 2014.

A source close to Pamela actually told Entertainment Weekly that the star never plans to watch the show. Moreover, the source condemned the producers’ actions.

“Imagine if a celebrity today had their nudes leaked and then Hollywood recreated not just the crime but the actual nudes– that would never happen,” the source said.

“In the ’90s, Pamela’s body was deemed by a judge to be public property. There was no question the tape was stolen property, but the court decided it was not private property because her body belonged to the world.”
