After the video was up for two days, Nicole made it private.
“I didn’t think I could get fired for it,” Nicole says. “I didn’t think it was unprofessional. It doesn’t swear.”
“It’s not negative. It’s not harassing. It literally is me being like, ‘I can’t come into work early, but I have a Starbucks!'”
Unfortunately, one of Nicole’s coworkers had seen the video, took a photo of it playing on someone’s iPhone, and reported it to her boss.
Nicole was called into a meeting with three admins and no union rep. She was fired that day, and her bosses called the video a “slap in the face.”
“You’re not obligated to come in early,” commented one TikTok user. “As long as you come in when you’re scheduled, that should be that. Sorry this happened.”
“Your ex-employer is delusional,” commented another user.
