“Our goal is to raise $15,000 in order to cover one year of rent for Cassandra so that she can focus on taking care of herself and her little family and working towards self-sustainability. All funds minus processing fees taken by GoFundMe will go directly to her,” Leah explained.
As of September 12th, $6,995 of the goal has been donated to Cassandra and her fur babies.
There were also a few updates added to the original posting. The first was on July 29; it was a basic thank you.
Cassandra told Leah, “I am touched by the amount of help, kindness, encouragement, smiles, and good words I’ve received from people I meet in person and from behind the screen. I’ve never had this much help in my entire life, and I’m forever grateful that they care enough to help, and I’m blown away by it.”
The second update was on August 4. Cassandra shared that they moved out of the park and into some temporary shelter. She is looking for permanent housing and a job as soon as she can.
“I just need some time because, like the last post, I have NEVER in my life had as much help from people in my life, especially ones I haven’t even met. I have cried from the kindness I know you guys care; I really do!!!! My family is not in my life due to toxic reasons, nor are they willing to help me even share my GoFundMe, let alone help contribute or live with them, but a long time ago, I was better off without them and a fully capable adult now anyways. So on to the next part of the journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I really do love you,” she continued.
