After her dad started treating her this way, she knew that he had been manipulating her against her mom all long.
She then was able to get her hands on the divorce documents, and she could see that she was right.
When she turned 16, she began squirreling away her money so she could move out, and that’s exactly what she did when the clock struck midnight on her 18th birthday.
She packed all of her belongings and left her home behind.
She also was able to reconnect with her mom after she moved out too.
“I’ve done pretty well for myself after leaving,” she said. “I have a job, an apartment, a baby. I’m happy with my life.”
“My sister contacted me a few days ago, she just turned 18, and she wanted to see me. We met at a park and talked for a while.”
“When she asked me why I left, I tried to lie and come up with better answers, but she kept pressing, so I told her the truth, all of it, not sparing the details.”
Her younger sister did not take the news well, and she at first denied that their dad was like that. Her sister insisted that their mom had been the issue all along.
“She said she didn’t believe me about any of it, and then she stormed off,” she continued. “I told our mom what happened, and she said that I shouldn’t have told my sister at all.”
“She thinks that it wasn’t fair of me to shatter her reality like that because she’s just a kid, and our dad is still her hero.”
