She Called Her Brother A Pathetic Excuse For A Dad And Compared Him To Their Own Absent Father
This woman and her brother, Tom, apparently grew up with a “deadbeat” father who never wanted to raise them and ended up running off to avoid paying child support.
And now, she believes that Tom is following in her father’s unfortunate footsteps.
“Tom is barely around for his own kids. Yet, he expects to be praised and hailed as the world’s greatest father for providing the bare minimum,” she explained.
For context, Tom is divorced from his ex-wife, Rose, but has two kids– Kim, who is nineteen, and Liz, who is seventeen. However, he does not step up to the plate to help Rose out with parenting at all.
One example of this is how Tom constantly expects Rose to schedule their children’s events and appointments, and he needs Rose to constantly remind him of those events, or else he just won’t show up.
So, Rose will go out of her way to tell Tom about an appointment or event via email weeks in advance. Rose also sends Tom follow-up reminders both one week and one day before each event.
Remarkably, though, Tom always claims to “forget” and actually ends up blaming Rose for being irresponsible.
“It would take ten seconds for Rose to shoot me a text. She knows I don’t check my email every day!” Tom reportedly always says.
Plus, Tom has reminders set on his phone, but for whatever reason, he cannot be bothered to get a calendar app and keep track of his kids’ functions.

So, sadly, Rose is left alone at all of their children’s events more often than not. In fact, Rose said that she could count on one hand the number of times Tom has actually shown up.
The worst event that Tom could have ever missed, though, was his daughter Kim’s high school graduation. He claimed that he “forgot” and went out drinking with his buddies. And Kim was understandably devastated.
This even led Kim to actually cut off communication with her father. Kim is now at college and has not spoken to Tom since her eighteenth birthday.
And honestly, she thought that Kim’s decision would have been a wake-up call for her brother.
Instead, though, Tom just blamed Rose for his mistake again and kept applauding himself for doing the bare minimum. But it’s not like Tom is ever there for his other daughter, Liz, either.
In fact, Tom gets to have Liz for one and a half weeks every month. And according to Liz, Tom is literally never home, and Liz just gets stuck doing all of the housework and dog-sitting.
“Liz also said that Tom couldn’t remember a single one of her friends’ or teachers’ names when she pressed him about it,” she revealed.
So anyway, if you could not have guessed, hearing all of this about her brother over the years has seriously upset her. But, after she visited her mother’s house recently and Tom was there, she finally let her brother have it.
It all began when Tom started complaining and blaming Rose for messing up again since he failed to show up at Liz’s driving test and missed Liz getting her license.
Then, Tom moved on to complaining about Liz. He first tried to say that talking to his daughter now is “like pulling teeth” before he made a really rude comment about both Liz and Rose.
“Liz tries to make me feel unloved in my own home! Her mother has turned her into an inconsiderate brat,” Tom actually said.
And even though she had been trying to bite her tongue throughout all of Tom’s complaining, that last statement seriously sent her over the edge. After all, she could not stand to hear Tom talk about Liz like that after he was never there for his daughter.
So, she snapped and finally told her brother off. She first told Tom that he was a “freaking pathetic excuse for a father. Then, she asked Tom how he could expect anyone to praise him after barely caring for Kim and Liz the same way their father never cared for them.
Those two comments enraged Tom, and he ended up screaming his head off. But she was done with him and decided to just go home.
Afterward, though, the drama was still not over. Apparently, numerous family members actually began calling her and accusing her of being a total jerk. They are claiming that Tom was old enough to remember when their father left and that it was totally unfair to throw his childhood trauma in his face.
On top of that, her family claims that Tom never had a present male figure in his life to model how a father should act. So, they accused her of insulting Tom instead of trying to “gently” correct his behavior.
She still does not give a damn about what her family members think, though. She believes that she has tried numerous times to get through to Tom, and since he never stepped up to the plate, he deserved to hear everything she said.
Still, though, she has been left wondering if perhaps she could have handled the situation a bit better.
