In 2017, Anna Maciejewska was a 43-year-old wife and mother to her 4-year-old son living in Malvern, Pennsylvania. But, on April 10 that year, she reportedly left for work at about 9:45 a.m. and has never been seen again.

According to Anna’s husband, who last saw her that Monday morning, she left for work “in a panic.” Then, she failed to return home that evening and was eventually reported missing two days later, on April 12, 2017.

Anna’s disappearance sent shockwaves throughout the Pennsylvania community and even tugged on heartstrings abroad. She was originally born in Warsaw, Poland, before moving to the U.S.

So, at the time of Anna’s disappearance, her parents, Giannina and Zigmund, were thousands of miles away with countless unanswered questions. And to this day, they are still searching for their daughter over five years later.

“It is five years, but I remember as it happened yesterday,” Giannina said in an interview with NBC10.

Anna’s parents remember her as a “brilliant” woman who loved doing math, playing sports, and caring for her son. Yet, every day, they are forced to relive the painful moment when their daughter vanished.

“We have no idea what could have happened to her,” Giannina revealed.

Anna last spoke with her parents on March 28, 2017, to plan a trip to Poland. That visit was meant to celebrate her father, Zigmund’s, eightieth birthday since the father-daughter duo had a very tight-knit relationship.

But then, the very next day, on March 29, 2017, Anna canceled the trip out of the blue.

For the first time ever, text records between Anna and Giannina have been recovered via NBC10. The first text on March 29 was abrupt but written in proper Polish.

“Sorry, I can’t come. Kisses, Anna,” Anna first texted her mom regarding the trip cancelation.

Then, on March 30, Anna sent another text. This time, though, it was directed to her father and written using broken Polish– pushing her parents to believe that someone else had been using Anna’s phone.

“Anna didn’t write this message,” Giannina claimed.

The following week, Anna’s coworkers also noticed that she did not show up to work. Instead of calling to inform the office, though, she reportedly texted out as sick on April 3, 2017– which was highly uncharacteristic.

So, once Anna did not show up for work the following Monday, her coworkers decided to contact the police.

Authorities did find the circumstances to be suspicious, given Anna’s age and the fact that she had a young child left behind.

This prompted police officers to carry out a welfare check at Anna’s home on Monday, April 10, 2017. Upon arrival, though, the officers found that no one was home.

And just two days later, on April 12, Anna’s husband called the police regarding his wife. He claimed to have not seen his wife since April 10.

As of this past September, though, Pennsylvania State Trooper Chadwick Roberts revealed how he believes that Anna might not have been seen or heard from since late March of that year.

“There was absolutely no sign of her anywhere,” Trooper Roberts recalled.

Anna’s friends and loved ones in the community took to the streets following news of her disappearance– posting flyers and posters to spread awareness about her case and searching the local area for any signs of the mother.

During mid-May, though, there was a change in the case. Anna’s car, a navy blue 2011 Audi, was discovered less than two miles away from her house on May 8, 2017.

According to Trooper Roberts, the car was discovered in the back of a parking lot in a private community and was not located along any of Anna’s known routes.

The vehicle and wooded trails behind the parking lot were subsequently searched. But, not a single shred of evidence was located, and Anna’s case turned into a homicide investigation.

In the five years since then, though, there have been no further breaks in the search for Anna.

In 2019, investigators did search a townhouse owned by the mother in hopes of finding any clues. However, the investigators’ search turned up dry.

Anna’s parents and her community of friends have been left searching in the shadows for answers.

Despite the case being unsolved for over five years now, everyone has held onto hope and continues to fight for the Pennsylvania mother.

“Maybe I am naive and stupid, but still, I have hope,” Giannina said.

A Facebook page entitled Finding Anna Maciejewska was created to help spread awareness of her case, which is updated regularly with news stories, press releases, and personal anecdotes about Anna.

“We’re all Anna’s voice, and we will continue to be heard until her son knows his mother didn’t leave him; until the rotten soul who did this is put where he belongs, and until Anna’s parents have the closure they deserve,” the Facebook page reads.

A $30,000 reward is also being offered by Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers for any information that directly leads to the closure of Anna’s case.

At the time of her disappearance, Anna was five foot four, weighed 160 pounds, and had blonde hair and hazel eyes. Her last known home address was located on Hedgerow Lane in Malvern.

If you have any information regarding Anna’s disappearance or whereabouts, you are urged to contact the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 4PA-TIPS.
