Her Ex-Husband Lied To Her About The Start Time Of His Daughter’s Birthday Party Just So He Could Announce His New Wife Was Pregnant, So She Left With Their Son And Didn’t Bring Him Back For His Half-Sister’s Party

While this woman was married to her ex-husband, he had an affair and wound up telling her about it. So, they ultimately got a divorce, and her ex got remarried to his mistress.
Unfortunately, though, she and her ex had already had a son together. So, they now have split custody– which got pretty messy last month.
It all began about three weeks ago when it was her week to have her son. And at that point, she received a call from her ex’s wife.
“Who said that she had just realized her daughter’s birthday was on my week,” she recalled.
For context, her ex and his new wife had a child together– meaning that her ex’s daughter is her son’s half-sister.
So anyway, her ex’s wife wound up asking her to either bring her son to his half-sister’s first birthday party or drop him off the night before. Then, her ex’s wife claimed that they would bring her son back the following morning.
Now, she claims that she had no problem with her son attending his half-sister’s birthday. But, she thought that her ex’s wife was acting very entitled about the whole thing.
“She presented me with two ‘options’ when I did not have to do either,” she explained.
“So, I said I would think about it, and she got huffy and said my son had to be at his little sister’s party.”

She decided to stand her ground, though and reiterated how she would think it over. And after her ex’s wife tried to argue with her, she just hung up the phone.
Then, the day before the party, she decided to ask her son if he wanted to attend his little sister’s birthday. And after he said yes, she texted her ex’s wife that they would be in attendance and asked what time the party started.
Her ex’s wife ended up telling her that the party started at noon, but she did not want to be the first person to arrive. After all, that would give her ex more time to talk to her.
So, on the day of the party, she and her son got there at 12:30 p.m. Upon arrival, though, she realized there were no other cars at the house– which was bizarre.
Still, she and her son walked inside, but there were no other guests there. At that point, her ex also blindsided her and claimed they needed to talk.
She told him that was very unnecessary, though, and just asked where all of the other guests were. But her ex did not answer her question and just said that he “needed to prepare her” before she saw his wife.
Now, that made the whole situation pretty obvious– and she ended up asking her ex if his wife was pregnant. And after her ex confirmed that, she just rolled her eyes and asked again where the other party attendees were.
It was at that moment that her ex revealed the birthday party really started at 2:00 p.m. So, her ex and his wife essentially tricked her into arriving early in order to announce the pregnancy and give her time to “put herself together” before the party started.
And honestly, that seriously upset her. Apparently, her ex is “allergic to honesty,” and she was furious that he lied to her again.
“So I told him he needed to quit with the soap opera drama because I don’t have time for it,” she vented.
After all, she took time out of her own day and custody time to accommodate her ex’s wishes for the birthday party.
And since her lawyer told her never to leave her son with her ex during her own custody time– because then her ex could claim he has more custody rights– she felt like she was out of options.
She obviously did not want to hang out with her ex and his wife alone in an empty house for over an hour. On the other hand, she also didn’t want to leave and go back to the party later because it was a waste of gas.
So, at that point, she decided to just tell her ex and his wife that they had blown it. Then, she left with her son, took him to the park, and they had a nice day together.
After she left, her ex did blow up her phone with texts about how she was punishing his 1-year-old daughter for his wife’s pregnancy.
Quite frankly, though, she really did not care that his new wife was pregnant. She was just angry that her ex lied to her to seemingly create drama.
So, she just responded to the texts by saying, “grow up.” And when her son asked about his half-sister’s birthday party, she just explained that there had been a mix-up about the party time.
She also told him that he would get to celebrate his half-sister’s birthday at his dad’s house, and he was totally fine with that.
Once her mom heard about what happened, though, she got accused of hurting the birthday girl’s feelings in the process. Her mom also told her that she should have been the bigger person– not left the party.
Still, though, she believes that her ex’s daughter was not hurt by any of this– mainly because the little girl is 1-year-old and wouldn’t even remember who was there.
She also believes there is a limit to “being the bigger person,” particularly when it comes to her ex’s games.
“I am not going to reward lying and trickery in my ex anymore than I would reward it if my 6-year-old did it,” she said.
Regardless of her own perspective on the situation, though, she has still been left wondering whether leaving her son’s half-sister’s birthday and not bringing her son back was a jerky thing to do or not.
Why do you think her ex wanted to create drama so badly as if finding out that his wife was pregnant would make her so upset? Do you think she had a right to be angry that they lied? Did she do the right thing by removing herself and her son from that situation? Or should she have brought her son back to the birthday party?
