When they arrived, they were shocked to discover that Vlad had impaled an entire town of Mehmed’s men. However, his brutality was not only reserved for men. Women and children alike were found affixed to stakes.
Despite his violent methods, Mehmed II quickly gained victory over Vlad III. Vlad ran away to Transylvania but later died in battle.
Radu the Handsome was installed as the new ruler of Wallachia. Unfortunately, his reign did not last long. He was deposed several times and died throneless. He also never saw Mehmed II again.
Radu the Handsome is considered to be a traitor due to the fact that he fought alongside the Ottomans against his own brother. Although he is somewhat of an afterthought when it comes to the history books, he still was an important part of the story of Mehmed II and Vlad III.
