This 24-year-old woman’s friend, 32, recently got engaged and planned a bachelorette party vacation in Italy.

There were six women on the vacation. Her friend enjoys drinking and going out, while she only goes out drinking on special occasions.

Throughout the vacation, she did her best to drink and socialize with the group. She’s naturally talkative and cheery, and her personality is this way whether she’s drinking or not.

Over the years, she’s explained this to her friend, who gets upset when others in social situations aren’t drinking as much alcohol as she is.

Plus, she’s just physically unable to drink as much as her friend can. However, she’s attempted to party it up during this vacation to appease her friend.

She was hoping for her friend to have a wonderful bachelorette trip, and this was all she wanted.

“We met some young people. They invited us to a party. We went and danced and met more people. The night kept going on longer, and we were very far from our lodgings,” she said.

“These young men with women in their group told us to stay with them for the night. I wasn’t feeling this situation. It felt unsafe, but the group voted, and I was in the minority.”

Everyone in her group was pretty intoxicated, and she was in an awkward spot as the only sober person who was attempting to convince them all to find a taxi so that they could go back to their hotel instead of staying with strangers.

From her perspective, these men didn’t seem trustworthy, and she had a bad feeling about staying overnight with them.

Unfortunately, she had no choice but to accompany the group because it wasn’t safe for her to take a taxi to the hotel by herself, especially late at night.

“We got to this house and settled in. In the middle of the night, I heard attempts being made to enter our room. The men entered even though we had locked the doors,” she explained.

“I pretended to be asleep, and the men were talking in Italian, but it felt like they were checking on us and wanting to do something. They were quarreling with each other, going back and forth, it seemed.”

Eventually, the men walked out of the room and continued fighting outside. Understandably, she wasn’t able to fall asleep at all that night.

She texted her boyfriend with updates on what was going on and how she didn’t feel comfortable or safe staying with these men.

The following morning, the men told her and the other women that they could give them a tour around the area, and everyone else in the group agreed that they wanted to hang out with the men for one more day. Once again, she seemed to be the only one uneasy about this.

“I didn’t want to get into a car with them because I found them creepy. The whole morning, I found them staring at me a lot and also making some comments about my ethnicity–I am Korean–and they could tell, and it seemed that they were interested in me because of my ethnicity,” she shared.

In addition, these two men began interrogating her with rude, inappropriate questions, and it appeared to her like the men were analyzing all of them for a particular purpose that she wasn’t yet aware of, and it freaked her out.

Whenever she expressed her concerns to the group, they all dismissed her and made excuses. They claimed that she was just misinterpreting what the men meant because the men weren’t fluent in English.

It was clear to her that the rest of the group was thrilled that these men were giving them so much attention, and they were excited that the men mentioned taking them on a yacht. No one seemed to care that she was anxious about the men’s intentions.

Later, the men mentioned that they could give them a ride to their hotel and suggested that they grab all of their belongings and check out so that they could spend the rest of the trip staying with them.

Everyone else in the group was debating on taking them up on this offer, but she didn’t want to do this.

She tried to urge the other women to stick with their original travel plans, pointing out that they’d already done research and found a reputable company through which they could do a ride on a yacht.

While all of this was going on, she was in constant communication with her boyfriend, who was in France.

He suggested giving everyone a ride to the hotel himself, and he even told her friend, the bachelorette, that he could pay for them to take their own ride on a yacht, but everyone in the group wanted to go on the yacht with these two men instead.

Finally, four days before their trip ended, she couldn’t handle the situation anymore. Her boyfriend told her he could pick her up, so she agreed.

She was open and honest with her friend about why she was leaving the trip early and how crucial it was to prioritize her safety. Sadly, her friend was furious.

What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
