If you found out that a local hotshot in your town was up to no good, but you knew the police wouldn’t do anything about it, would you take matters into your own hands?
This woman got a job five years ago working in a tech repair shop, and she’s used to being the only girl in the place while dealing with men who treat her like she’s incompetent on a daily basis.
Last week on Tuesday, this rich local developer brought his computer in for her to take a look at. He claimed his device was being really slow.
“This guy is a total creep, always makes weird comments about my ‘expertise’ and thinks he is untouchable because he owns half the downtown,” she explained.
“I was running a deep diagnostic on his secondary drive when I found an encrypted folder that looked suspicious. I am not proud of snooping, but I found a way in, and I almost threw up. It was dozens of videos from hidden cameras in a local women-only gym.”
“I even recognized one of the girls from my own yoga class. It was disgusting, predatory trash. I know how things work in this town. He plays poker with the mayor, and his lawyer is terrifying.”
She knew that if she went to the police, they would cover this up, delete the evidence, and then she would end up losing her job for bringing it to their attention.
Instead, she stealthily handled the videos and used her tech skills to ensure they were wiped and could never be recovered. She artfully made it appear like there was a horrible mechanical problem with the computer, so that nobody would piece together what she did.
When this rich guy came to pick up his computer, she kept her cool. She informed him that there was a fatal crash on his hard drive and all of his files were gone. There was nothing she could do to get them back.

“He turned white as a sheet and offered me three grand under the table to ‘work my magic.’ I just shrugged and said the hardware was toast,” she continued.
“Seeing him panic, knowing his sick collection is gone forever, was better than any paycheck. I guess some data just isn’t meant to be recovered.”
Ugh, how gross, and I understand why she was scared to go to the police in such a small town when going up against someone with the money and the means to make this disappear.
She did the right thing, dealing with it in the way that she did, though it’s scary that there’s probably nothing stopping him from making new videos of unsuspecting women. If he owns so many buildings in the town, he might even own the gym.
