She’s Talking About The Worst Things She Encountered While Working As A Personal Assistant In LA

There are so many jobs in the world that sometimes it’s hard to find one that fits you. Some people go to college to try and figure it out.
Others do apprenticeships with business owners. Not everyone has the same path, and it doesn’t always go the way we plan.
One TikToker (@_sadielane) shared her experience as a personal assistant working in Los Angeles.
Sadie Lane’s first video about being a personal assistant was posted in July of 2022. She opens the video explaining that she’d been a personal assistant “basically on and off for the span of 10 years; it was my first real job.”
Sadie goes on to say that the first thing she did when she started working for a new client was to ask if she needed to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and that every single client said she didn’t have to.
She quips that her clients most likely never felt the need to have her sign an NDA because she was “a good little Mormon girl for most of these years, and they were like, ‘What are you going to do?'”
Sadie expresses that as a personal assistant, she respected her clients’ privacy, especially because the job requires close involvement in the clients’ personal lives.
“I had to go through someone’s divorce records, page by page, once,” Sadie said.
She also had to go through clients’ tax and other financial records, and she made it clear that she had no interest in airing out her clients’ personal affairs.

With all of that in mind, Sadie went on to talk about an unpleasant client whom she disliked working with so much that he made her want to “leave the state.”
Sadie sets the scene by explaining that her unnamed client wanted her to make an appointment with a medical specialist who was “really high-end, in demand,” but that it wasn’t any sort of medical emergency.
When Sadie’s client requested her to make this appointment, it was early December. Holidays were coming up, so scheduling the appointment would be difficult, which she told her client prior to calling the specialist’s office.
Once Sadie called the office, she was informed that the earliest available appointment was at the end of January.
She says that when she updated her client, he said, “‘No, that’s unacceptable; I want you to call them back and let them know that I’m friends with Lady Gaga.'”
Sadie then, as an aside, asks her TikTok audience, “Does working with her once count?”
She admits that her client’s reaction made her cringe.
“I was like, ‘I can’t repeat that, sir,'” she says.
Even though she didn’t want to, Sadie said, “But it’s my job.” She called the office back, relaying that her client said he’s friends with Lady Gaga.
The receptionist asked Sadie to wait on a brief hold, and when she came back on the line, she said, “‘Yeah, we can see him Friday morning at like 8:00 a.m.”
Sadie said that she didn’t work for this particular client long and ended her video with her takeaway from the experience, which is a message that many Americans have vocalized:
“Money can’t buy you love…but in this country, it can sure buy you healthcare.”
After posting her video, many people commented with questions about being a personal assistant. Others wondered if name-dropping Lady Gaga was code for something.
To answer some of those questions, she made a couple more videos describing more experiences she had while working as a personal assistant in L.A.
How would you react if your boss told you to name-drop the way hers did?
