Archaeologists Discovered A Miniature Sphinx In Egypt, But The Artifact Is Believed To Be Roman

The country’s most famous sphinx, the Great Sphinx of Giza, dates back to around 2,500 B.C. It is the oldest monumental sculpture in Egypt and is thought to represent the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Khafre.

Excavation work will continue at the site for the foreseeable future, including plans to dig along the road connecting the Dendera Temple to the Temple of Horus.

The hope is that the project will yield more artifacts that will provide more insight into the history of Egyptian civilization during the Greek and Roman ages.
