Close to two years ago now, this 33-year-old man’s 32-year-old wife went on vacation with her mom and sisters.
He stayed at home with their kids: a 6-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. The evening before his wife was supposed to come home from her trip, she sent him a strange message.
It said his wife knew what he had done, and she wanted him out of the house before she got back home.
That was all the message contained. He was super confused, so he called and texted his wife, but she wouldn’t respond.
“When she arrived home, I was still there because I had no clue what was going on,” he explained.
“She came in ready to go. Yelling at me, accusing me of having other women in the house, telling me her friend had told her all about my affair with her and at least one other woman.”
“Our fight went on for days. In the end, I told her if she believed that, if she thought I was capable of doing that to her and our family, then she could pack her stuff and leave. She did, and then she filed for divorce.”
Several days later, police officers showed up at his house and took his kids away. It was five months until he saw his kids again.
His wife made it impossible for him to see his kids, as she made up lies about how he financially and physically abused them all in an effort to hurt him.
He did his best to fight his wife’s lies, along with his lawyer, and finally, he was granted weekend visitation.
“The first time seeing my kids after all those months apart destroyed me,” he said. “Their misery was written all over the both of them.”
“They saw me and threw themselves at me. They clung to me, crying so hard. I didn’t care about my marriage at that point, I just cared about my kids. They were full of stories they couldn’t wait to tell me.”
He began recording all of the things his kids told him, and his lawyer suggested he hire a private investigator.
He did that and was able to get 50/50 custody of his kids two months ago. Now, he has his kids for a week at a time, then his now ex-wife has them for a week, and the following week they are back with him.
Then, he found out that while his kids were with him one night, his ex-wife went to a party. A lot of his former friends were there, but they dumped him since they bought his ex-wife’s lies.
His ex-wife was there with her brand new boyfriend when her friend approached her. This is the same friend who had somehow convinced his ex-wife that he was cheating on her.
In front of everyone at the party, his ex-wife’s friend said his ex-wife owes her a thank you. His ex-wife then asked her friend what she meant.
His ex-wife’s friend began laughing while pointing out she wasn’t aware it would be so easy to convince his ex-wife that he was being unfaithful.
So, his ex-wife’s friend finally admitted to lying to her, laughed some more about it, and then his ex-wife actually attacked her.
Since his ex-wife learned the truth, she has been calling him and texting him incessantly. His ex-wife’s parents are also reaching out to him, as well as her friends.
“I shut them all out,” he said. “I don’t care that they all know the truth now and want to apologize for their treatment of me.”
“All their calls and messages go unanswered. They’re all dead to me. If not for my kids, my ex would be dead to me too. Not because she believed the lie and made up some of her own, but because she used my kids against me. I can’t forgive that she used my kids.”
“My ex is making regular visits to my parents, giving them a sob story of how sorry she is, how she regrets everything, and all she wants is to put her family back together. My dad was blunt. He reminded her that she broke our family, and he wouldn’t help her con me into giving her another chance.”
As for his mom, she bought his ex-wife’s story. His mom has been insisting that he get back together with his ex-wife so their kids can grow up in a home with both of their parents present.
His mom has also stated he needs to put the love he has for his kids above the embarrassment and hurt that his ex-wife caused him.
His mom believes he needs to push down the resentment he harbors for his ex-wife for the sake of their children.
He honestly kind of hates his mom for picking his ex-wife’s side and telling him to forget about the pain she caused him over the last two years.
“I know I’m doing what’s right for me and my kids. It won’t be any benefit for them to grow up in a house with their dad hating the sight of their mother,” he continued.
“This is ruining my relationship with my own mother. How do I let my mother know that she is pushing me away from her and that I’m close to cutting her off if she doesn’t let this go? How do I tell her in a way that she listens and that what I have to say sticks so she gives it up?”
