Many scientists are now observing the UK sequoia’s carbon sequestration, or its capabilities to capture and store carbon dioxide, preventing it from spreading in the Earth’s atmosphere and fighting against global warming.
This is why they continued to be planted in the UK, even if they can’t grow on their own there.
Now, some are debating whether or not it’s a good idea to keep these trees out of their native habitat and in the UK.
On one hand, since the sequoias can’t grow over there on their own, there isn’t much risk of them becoming invasive or out of control.
On the other hand, some stand by the notion that any form of nature, from animals to plants, belongs in its native habitat.
Have you ever seen a sequoia tree in person?
