Miranda Conner was originally from Illinois. But, in 2023, the 30-year-old single mom was living in a neighborhood known as Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado, with a roommate and her two children.

Miranda’s kids, Zayden and Zyrah, were 11-years-old and 9-years-old, respectively. She was also a stay-at-home mom and had plans to take her children to Disneyland in June 2023.

Yet, in February of last year, Miranda mysteriously vanished, and authorities have since begun handling her case as a homicide investigation.

It all began on February 2, 2023, when Miranda and her mother, Tabitha Spann, spoke on the phone as usual. During their conversation, Miranda asked for some help paying her rent, and Tabitha sent $300 to put toward the payment. Tragically, this was the last time Miranda and her mother ever spoke to each other again.

The following day, February 3, 2023, Miranda called an Uber and was picked up at her residence in Green Valley Ranch. She didn’t have her own car at the time, so the Uber took her to Federal Heights, Colorado. There, she was supposed to meet an unknown individual.

Miranda was last seen near an apartment complex located off of West 85th Avenue and North Pecos Street in Federal Heights. She never arrived back at her home after that evening, and her loved ones haven’t been able to contact her since.

When Miranda failed to return home, her roommate contacted the Denver Police Department and filed a missing person report. According to her roommate, April Elsner, it was completely out of character for Miranda to leave and not return without any warning.

Once an investigation was launched, authorities ascertained that Miranda’s cell phone last pinged in a neighborhood near Thornton at 4:04 a.m. on February 4, 2023. Later, a civilian discovered the phone abandoned close to the apartment complex where Miranda was last seen in Federal Heights.

The civilian reportedly returned the phone to Miranda’s roommate, who then turned it over to authorities for investigation.

Additionally, police launched search efforts in the area surrounding the Federal Heights apartment complex, and after bringing in bloodhounds, her scent was detected using a piece of her clothing.

A piece of purple clothing that Miranda is believed to have been wearing when she vanished was found by one of the dogs. Another canine also tracked her scent to a nearby dumpster, as well as a specific unit in the apartment complex.

Lastly, the bloodhounds traced Miranda’s scent back to a frozen lake, which was adjacent to the apartment complex. At the time, one of the dogs walked north in the direction of a different apartment complex before turning around.

Due to the “concerning nature” of Miranda’s disappearance and the length of time she’s been missing, the Federal Heights Police Department – who took over the investigation in early March 2023 – claimed they are handling her case as a homicide.

Miranda’s mother, Tabitha, has a gut feeling that something horrific happened to her daughter.

“I believe something bad happened to her. We just want everyone to know just to tell us they know something – even if it’s anonymous – to say something so that we can find her,” she said.

“We’re just trying to find her and bring her home safe if we can if she’s still alive.”

Tabitha also emphasized how her daughter was a devoted mother who wouldn’t just leave her kids. Plus, she and her children had been looking forward to a trip to Disneyland last summer.

“There’s no way she would’ve missed out on that with the kids or not even talking to the kids. She was the type of person [who] her kids were her lifeline,” Tabitha explained.

“Miranda is a loving mother. She would never ever leave her children with somebody unless she knew she was coming back, and she has never not communicated with her children more than if she was leaving on a trip.”

Since her disappearance, Miranda’s children have been staying with Tabitha in Arizona. According to Tabitha, it’s been a trying time for everyone – including the kids.

“They don’t talk a lot about their mom being missing. They’re doing good in school. They know we’re actively looking for her and want her to come home safe,” she detailed.

The Dock Ellis Foundation, an organization that helps families when a person of color goes missing, also got involved to help Miranda’s loved ones with her case.

There is currently a $2,000 reward being offered by Metro Denver Crime Stoppers for information that leads to Miranda’s discovery, and Tabitha pleaded for community members to come forward if they know something. She also issued a message to her daughter.

“She needs to be found, or somebody needs to just tell us, you know, give us a tip that’s going to help us find her,” Tabitha said.

“Miranda, we love you. Your kids love you. They miss you every day. And just know you have a supportive family here wanting you home, and we miss you dearly. I’m not gonna give up until I find her, no matter what.”

Miranda is five foot six, weighs 116 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple sweater and a grey puffer jacket and had multiple tattoos – including a tiger on her left forearm and Winnie the Pooh on her left shoulder.

If you have any information regarding her case, you are urged to contact the Federal Heights Police Department at (303) 428-8833.
