In 2008, She Called Her Sister And Said She’d Be Home From A Party In About An Hour, But She Never Returned

In 2008, Kyla Porter was 19-years-old and living with her older sister, Lynn Porter, in Holiday, Florida.
Kyla had previously lived in Georgia. However, after her fiancé went to jail for a drug charge, she moved back to Florida to be with her family. Together, she and her sister lived in a home located on Blossom Lake Drive.
But, on February 15, 2008, Kyla tragically went missing, and her disappearance has remained a mystery ever since.
That night, at about 10:30 p.m., she reportedly called her sister, Lynn, and said she was at a party. Kyla also claimed she would be returning home in approximately one hour.
It’s unclear where exactly Kyla was when she placed that phone call. She also never arrived home and has never been seen or heard from again.
According to her loved ones, Kyla had reportedly left before for a few days at a time. However, she still stayed in contact with her family during these periods.
So, after two weeks passed by, Kyla’s mom, Teresa Ahrens, contacted the police and attempted to report her daughter missing. Yet, authorities reportedly did not take the report seriously. They reportedly claimed that, since Kyla had left on her own before, Teresa needed to wait one more week prior to filing a missing person report.
Once an investigation was eventually launched, it was discovered that Kyla had left all of her belongings – including her purse, identification, and clothing – at home.
Teresa also attempted to speak with a friend who’d reportedly been with Kyla at the party the night she vanished. However, the friend claimed not to have seen Kyla for weeks and reportedly hung up on Teresa.

Authorities were unable to trace the phone that Kyla used to call her sister since it was a prepaid phone that reportedly only stored 10 numbers. So, once Kyla was officially reported missing, the information was lost.
Investigators also spoke with Kyla’s loved ones and friends, but no leads regarding her whereabouts were discovered.
It has been rumored that the party Kyla attended on February 15, 2008, was in a swamp area located approximately 15 miles from her home, known as Moon Lake. Although this theory has not been confirmed.
There are also no known persons of interest or suspects, and the exact circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain a mystery. So, Kyla’s case is currently classified as “endangered missing” and is still unsolved.
Following her disappearance, her loved ones created a website entitled Find Kyla Porter to raise awareness about her case. There, they shared details of her disappearance, missing posters, links to past media coverage, events, and more.
Additionally, in a section entitled “To My Daughter,” Kyla’s mother, Teresa, wrote a heartfelt message.
“Hi baby, this is Mom. It is so painful to even look at a photo of you anymore that I can barely stand to write to you. Not even knowing if you’re here to read it or not. I just wanted you to know again how much I love you. I never knew pain until this happened,” the message began.
“Kyla, I just sometimes don’t think I can make another day without knowing where you are and what happened to you…”
“I will never stop looking for you, Kyla. I love you so much. I just wish I could have had one more time to let you know how much I love my little girl. Love forever, Mommy.”
At the time she vanished, Kyla was five foot four, weighed 125 pounds, and had brown hair and brown eyes. She also had multiple tattoos, including two stars on her chest and a fairy on the back of her right shoulder.
