Recently, TikToker Dylan (@undermybungalow) experienced an after-hours hangout with his coworkers, which has made him decide to avoid work events that involve alcohol.

When he got his first corporate job with his own cubicle, it took some getting used to because he had previously only worked customer service jobs. His new job also came with benefits, such as bonuses and after-hour hangouts.

One day, he received a message from his manager in the group chat for work, saying that they were doing happy hour on Thursday. It was Dylan’s first time at happy hour with his office coworkers, so he wasn’t sure how it worked.

Apparently, it turned into a wild party. The food and drinks kept coming. Dylan kept taking shot after shot, so he was definitely drunk by the end of the night.

His coworkers started leaving around 9 p.m. He got up and gave hugs to everyone, even people from the office he had never talked to before.

Then, they all piled into the car with the most sober coworker at the wheel. Dylan started blasting electronic dance music. They dropped off one of their coworkers at her apartment, but she was so drunk that she needed help getting in. So, they all went into her apartment and proceeded to have a potluck.

Afterward, everyone else got back into the car. Dylan asked his coworker to drop him off at his car, which was back at the office. He fell asleep in front of the office, waiting for his boyfriend to drive an hour and a half to come pick him up.

His boyfriend then had to drive another hour and a half all the way back home because he had to be up at 4 a.m. Dylan felt so bad that he cried and kept apologizing to him over the phone during his drive back. Finally, Dylan fell asleep again and woke up on Friday morning to the birds chirping.

His phone battery was low, he was dehydrated, and he didn’t have his car, so he needed a ride to work. He walked into work with his head hung low. He was embarrassed to see everyone.

Throughout the day, his coworkers asked him how he was feeling. His hangover was getting worse and worse as the day went on.

He vowed never to drink at work events again because he felt so miserable and humiliated. Many TikTok users spilled the details about how chaotic their own work events were.

“Went to a company Christmas party ONCE. It ended [with] my coworkers running into the woods because the police were called, and I sat in a bush with my boss. Another coworker ran from the police, and there was a 2-hour chase that involved a helicopter,” commented one user.

“Girl, I blacked out at a company party and woke up in bed with a guy from another department with alcohol poisoning. I didn’t get fired, but I was told I was sloppy, and my bosses had this disappointed look every time I talked to them,” shared another.

“The last time I went to a company party, I won a flat screen TV drunk after like three espresso martinis,” stated someone else.
