After she filed for divorce, TikToker Megan (@_m.a.e.v.e_) is pretty sure that her ex-husband tried to poison her. She believes that he tested out the poison on the dog first because the dog ended up dying.
A couple of days after she filed for divorce, her then-husband showed up at her workplace and left food for her at the front desk. It was a clear soup container in a black plastic bag.
On the surface, it might not seem suspicious. But Megan felt that something was off about the gesture. She thought it was odd because he had never done that before.
“He’s never brought me food before, ever,” said Megan. “Like, our entire relationship, our entire marriage, he’s never brought me food.”
“He’s never even bought my food. I’ve had to pay for my own food. So, I was like, what in the world is going on?”
The fact that he had never done this before, and was only doing it after she filed for divorce and had a conversation with him about it, set off all the alarms in her head. The timing was strange enough to trigger her instincts. She immediately threw the food in the trash.
Months later, another event caused her to look back at that lunch more closely. During the divorce proceedings, her husband kicked her out of the house. Later, she received the news that the dog had died.
The dog was only two or three years old, healthy, and well-behaved, so Megan was confused by this sudden death. Her first thought was that the dog had jumped the fence, run through the neighborhood, and been hit by a car.
But apparently, the dog had suddenly become violently ill. She threw up blood, defecated everywhere, and mysteriously dropped dead.

Megan called a friend of hers, who was a vet tech, and told her what happened. According to her friend, those types of deaths typically occur after consuming some sort of chemical or poison. In her experience, the most likely culprit was rodent poison.
“So, my theory, again, based off of my experience and the facts of the situation, is that he tried to poison me, and it didn’t work because I didn’t eat the food, and he didn’t know that I didn’t eat the food,” said Megan.
“He tried the poison on the dog, which clearly worked.”
It’s important to note that her suspicions remain as her personal beliefs and speculation. She talked to the police about it, which led to certain people threatening to sue her.
Throughout the whole process, she found out that no one can sue her for simply expressing her opinion. She has also learned what her true calling is and decided to apply to law school.
Now, she is turning one of the most difficult chapters of her life into a new beginning.
