When TikToker @copedinlearning found an evidence box of human remains in her attic, she immediately called the police. She had moved into the house in October and hadn’t known much about the previous residents.
According to stories from her neighbors and landlord, an older couple had lived there before her. Or, it was an elderly man and his caretaker. They both got really sick.
The caretaker called an ambulance, which came and took her. They didn’t find the man until later because they didn’t know that he was even in the house. They were both taken to a nursing home and passed away there.
The box of human remains was discovered while in the process of putting up Christmas decorations. TikToker @copedinlearning’s twin sister had gone up to the attic and was grabbing some bins when she spotted the box.
She yelled down that she had found a box taped up with evidence, and the label read “Conroe Police Department; miscellaneous human remains.”
At first, their mother thought it could have been a Halloween prop, but upon further inspection, they could tell it was legitimate. They called the non-emergency number, and two police officers showed up to check it out.
They called the Conroe Police Department and sat there for a long time before taking the box.
Later, they returned and explained everything they knew. Apparently, human remains had been donated to Goodwill. The Conroe Police Department took the remains and marked them as evidence. They ran a bunch of tests on the remains, but at some point in 2022, the remains went missing.
The evidence that was missing happened to be in @copedinlearning’s attic. She plans to go up and explore the attic further and see what else she can find.

In the comments section, some TikTok users shared stories of similar finds they’ve made, while others pointed out that the situation might not be as dark as it seems.
“I once found a human vertebrae near my house. Police department asked to show them where I did. They literally looked and left. Called back to follow up and said that it was likely a scattered remain from a farm burial,” commented one user.
“So, fun fact: all of my mom’s photos and some evidence went missing from her ‘accident’ because they were checked out by a detective who never returned them, so it happens more than we know,” stated another.
“Had a family member who was a civil employee in the evidence vault for the local police department. He would bring home evidence boxes all the time for when someone had to move. More than likely, this is just a result of bad policy and not what is on the box,” chimed in a third.
