Back when TikToker Tray (@teachwithtray) used to be a substitute teacher, one of his middle school students called the police on him. The middle school he was subbing at had quite a reputation.

“I don’t know what I was doing there, but I was sure there, and it was actually me and another adult in there,” recalled Tray. “So, I thought this should be good. Two adults can handle it. Boy, were we sorely mistaken. Those kids got into all kinds of things.”

But fifth period was when absolute chaos broke out. There was one little boy who put some tissue in his mouth and was pretending to choke on it. He was putting on a show with all his coughing and sputtering. Then, he fell out of his seat.

Tray knew the boy was just playing around because his face wasn’t even turning red. However, some of the other students, particularly one little girl, were freaking out, thinking he was actually choking.

“That boy was not choking,” said Tray. “He was just begging for attention. So, after that whole little act, the other teacher in there decided to take him to the nurse just in case.”

“And the little girl must have called 911 while he was still on the ground because I personally didn’t even see it.”

A few minutes later, Tray received a call from the school nurse, who was checking in. As he was in the middle of describing what happened, a woman burst into the classroom, telling him to put the phone down.

He didn’t know if this woman was the principal or someone from the administrative staff, but she seemed to have an air of authority about her.

The woman asked Tray if he had called 911. Confused, he told her that he was simply talking to the school nurse. She explained that someone had called 911, and an ambulance had shown up.

At the end of the day, the little boy was perfectly fine. The nurse didn’t find anything wrong with him. A police officer talked to Tray and told him that the dispatcher had received a call about a choking student and that the teacher in charge hadn’t been doing anything about it.

“Listen, I know when kids are putting on an act,” said Tray. “And I know real choking from fake choking. His face didn’t turn an inch red.”

“Even after all that coughing and falling out of the chair he was doing, his face stayed the same shade. He would have turned blue if he was choking and then I would have done something about it.”

After that incident, Tray never returned to that school. He declared that he wouldn’t even go 50 yards within the school.
