About a year and a half ago, TikToker Cole (@colethegrey) found out her husband was having an affair. Naturally, she freaked out and started the process of divorcing him.
A few days after this terrible discovery, she had a trip to San Diego that was already booked. She decided to still go.
Her husband had actually booked the trip for her so he could go see his secret girlfriend, but she hadn’t known about all that at the time.
While standing in line at the airport, she overheard a lively conversation unfolding nearby. A shorter woman in her sixties was chatting animatedly with a group of people she was traveling with.
She kept making eye contact with the woman, who clearly had a huge personality and good energy. The woman said that this would be her last trip for a while.
A guy behind Cole asked why, and without hesitation, she explained that she was losing her dog sitter. Curious, the man asked what was happening to her dog sitter.
She stated, “Well, I’m divorcing him.”
Cole couldn’t help but burst into laughter, thinking of her own situation. She chimed in, admitting that she was going through her own divorce with her husband as well.
The woman stepped forward, grabbed her by the shoulders, looked her straight in the eye, and wished her the best trip of her life. She offered understanding, solidarity, and a blessing during a time when Cole really needed it.

“I will never forget that moment, and it was such a pivotal time in my life as well,” Cole said.
In the midst of her pain and betrayal, a stranger helped reframe everything. It shifted her perspective, reminding her that endings lead to new and better beginnings.
Now, she can take the next step forward. Several TikTok users shared similar stories of inspiration in the comments section below.
“My friend went through a divorce and kept saying, ‘I have to change everything.’ I told her you GET to change everything. Frame of mind, you GET a new life, so congrats!!!” exclaimed one user.
“Her calling her soon-to-be ex her dog sitter is queen energy, too,” pointed out another.
“When my husband left me three years ago, I had a trip planned to see my family. He told me the morning of the trip that he wanted a divorce. He was supposed to go with me. I wasn’t sure if I would go on my trip. I was shell-shocked. I decided I was going on my trip after all. The amount of women who reached out to support me as I was boarding my plane…I was ugly crying in the middle of the airport,” wrote a third.
