Every once in a while, a first date can run so spectacularly off the rails that it stops being a date altogether and turns into live entertainment that you prefer to spectate from a distance.
For TikToker Caroline (@carolinebachus), a night out in Nashville quickly escalated from promising to completely unhinged when her date got into a fight with a girl he was romantically involved with.
So, she met this guy on the dating apps, which was her first mistake. They planned to meet in East Nashville. The place they wanted to go to had an hour-long wait, so they decided to sit and chat across the street while they waited.
Everything was going well at first, but when they got to the place they wanted to go originally, the vibes seemed off.
They walked to Midtown instead and met up with his brother, his brother’s girlfriend, and some of their friends, turning the one-on-one date into a group hangout.
At one point, he walked up to the bar to get more drinks. Out of the corner of her eye, Caroline could see him talking to another girl by the bar. That wasn’t a great sign, but there was still a possibility it was just nothing. Except it wasn’t nothing.
He then came back with his drink and started conversing with other people around them, leaving Caroline sitting by herself. She tapped his shoulder and told him that she was going to find her friend, who also happened to be at the bar.
It was a subtle exit, but also a test of whether he’d notice or care.
The next time Caroline glanced over at him, he was standing two feet away from the girl he had been talking to earlier. She decided not to say anything, walked away, and stood back to assess the situation. Clearly, he had found another girl in the bar on their date. And then, it somehow got even worse.

All of a sudden, her date and the other girl started fighting at the bar. She heard the girl accuse him of giving someone else his phone number, and after that, everything was a chaotic blur.
Of course, Caroline did what many people might do in such a surreal moment. She just had to whip out her phone and record the fight.
She was sitting in a prime spot where she could see them, but they couldn’t see her. Watching from a distance, she realized how absurd the whole situation was.
“I’m going to throw up because I’m on a first date with this man, and he’s rekindling things with his ex at the bar in front of me,” said Caroline.
Needless to say, there was no second date.
