Recently, TikToker Charlotte (@charcolo) was hanging out with a guy she had been hooking up with when he asked her why she didn’t want to be in a relationship.

She went into detail about a guy she had been dating for a couple of months, who asked her to move to Ghana with him, but then told her on Christmas that he couldn’t see anything serious with her.

There was also another incident on New Year’s Eve, when one of her guy friends went home with her after a party and kissed her. He admitted that he had feelings for her.

The next day, she didn’t hear from him. After a while, she asked him out to dinner. He wasn’t available for a couple of weeks.

“So, I text him back and was like, if this was a drunk thing, we don’t have to do the whole song and dance,” said Charlotte. “If you’re taking me to dinner to let me down easily, you can just tell me.”

Several days later, she finally got him on the phone, and he admitted that he wasn’t looking to date. This was how she explained to the guy she was currently hooking up with that she didn’t want to be exclusive with him.

Later, she got into her car to drive home when she noticed that her most recently sent text message was to the guy friend she had just been talking about. She thought it was odd because she hadn’t spoken to him since their phone call.

When she looked at the messages more closely, she realized that it was a narrative of the whole story she had just described to the guy she was hooking up with.

Her story had been sent to her guy friend, word-for-word. Finally, she figured out what had happened. Her smart watch had recorded her conversation and texted it to her guy friend.

She decided to delete the entire message and block him because she had no interest in taking accountability for it. Now, she’s looking for a new watch that won’t expose all her conversations to other people.

In the comments section, several TikTok users shared similar stories about being betrayed by technology.

“My laptop betrayed me at a company meeting. It unmuted me during an ’employee of the month’ moment long enough for everyone to hear me say, ‘Yeah, they don’t pay me enough to do all that,'” commented one user.

“My friend always checks her phone before talking about someone to make sure she’s not accidentally calling them, and I’ll never judge her for it again,” wrote another.

“My mom did this to our family group text, complaining about watching all her grandkids,” added a third.
