About a year and a half ago, TikToker Maddie (@makeupmaddie) found out that her now ex-boyfriend of six years was cheating on her with his boss while they were living together.

He and Maddie shared a dog, and he even made her an engagement ring out of her grandmother’s diamond. His boss was eight years older than him, married, and had two kids.

Maddie moved out of their apartment within eight hours of finding out about the affair. She moved her entire business back to her hometown and was able to find a new location within two weeks of being home.

“It was the most perfect and unbelievable divine timing,” said Maddie. “I now have the most incredible group of girlfriends I could ever imagine.”

“I live 169 steps away from my parents and my sister. I lost 70 pounds in that year after we broke up. My business is thriving in my hometown.”

Maddie’s friends and family never really liked her ex-boyfriend, but they allowed her to figure out his shortcomings on her own. Back then, she truly thought that he was the one and that he was enough for her, but now, she realizes that she had been accepting the bare minimum for years.

She’s blown away by how much she has learned since the breakup and feels like a totally different person than she was a year and a half ago. She is happier, stronger, confident, and more independent.

Maddie claims that getting cheated on was the best thing that could have happened to her because it helped her open her eyes and realize that she deserves so much more. If she had stayed with him, she believes that the relationship would have ruined her life.

In the comments section, some TikTok users could relate to her situation, but now, their lives have improved immensely, just like hers.

“Got a divorce at the end of last year, and I literally thought my life was ending. But like you said, everything happens for a reason, and it’s the best thing to ever happen to me,” commented one user.

“Thank you for sharing. I remember feeling like my world was ending, and now, I’m married to my golden retriever husband, who is simply the best person, husband, and father,” shared another.

“You have absolutely no idea how much I resonate with this. I’m also 1.5 years out of a 6.5-year relationship where we planned to get married. Discarded in the most horrendous way. I tell my story, and jaws drop. I look at who I am now and am so freaking proud of myself, living my dreams that I wouldn’t have even attempted if I were still in that relationship. Everything I have wanted flows to me now,” added a third.
