The last time anyone saw Angela Freeman was at 1:00 a.m on September 10, 1993, at a Pizza Hut in Petal, Mississippi. The next day, her car was found abandoned nearby. She has been missing for more than 30 years.
At the time of her disappearance, Angela was 17 years old and four months pregnant. She had been preparing for her future by working at a local restaurant called Crystal’s while studying for her GED so she could eventually become a nurse.
On September 8, 1993, she told her mother and brother that she was going to stay with a friend for a few nights. Two days later, on September 10, Angela’s boss called the house because she hadn’t shown up for her 6:00 a.m. shift at the restaurant.
It was out of character for Angela, as she had never missed work before.
Later that afternoon, Angela’s uncle was driving near the abandoned Mahned Bridge when he spotted her car. He called his sister, Angela’s mother, and she rushed over right away. From there, they called the police.
Initially, the police didn’t see any signs of foul play and believed that Angela was a runaway. During the investigation, authorities discovered that Angela had left a note for her friend in the apartment on September 9, saying that she was going to visit her ex-boyfriend at the Pizza Hut where he worked.
In her note, she wrote that she would be back around midnight. However, she never returned.
The last person to see Angela alive was her ex-boyfriend, Stephen. According to other employees at Pizza Hut, Angela had come to the restaurant to see him.
They saw the former couple talking outside around 1:00 a.m., as the restaurant was closing down for the night. Apparently, she had wanted to get back together with Stephen, but he turned her down and left her standing in the parking lot.

After that, she mysteriously vanished. In the days following Angela’s disappearance, her mother noticed dark spots on the outside of her car. She called the police, and they determined that it was blood. Finally, a missing person report was filed.
The police began searching the area near where Angela’s car had been found and came across more blood. Six years later, in 1999, DNA analysis technology became available, and testing confirmed that the blood belonged to Angela. Investigators also found Angela’s shoes in two separate locations, but no other evidence.
It is unclear who the father of Angela’s child was. The father could be her ex-boyfriend, Stephen, or another ex-boyfriend named Larry.
Her relationship with Larry had been brief. At 3:00 a.m. on September 10, Larry had stopped by Crystal’s to talk to Angela, but she wasn’t there.
Later that day, Larry got married to Ruby, who was Angela’s former roommate. Angela had reportedly gotten together with Ruby’s boyfriend, Larry, behind Ruby’s back.
Angela also did not get along with her stepfather, who was said to have disapproved of her relationship with Larry because he was Black.
In May 1995, the bodies of two people were unearthed after they were abducted by the Mahned Bridge. A teen named Kenneth Moody confessed to assisting with the double murder and claimed to have information about Angela, but authorities were unable to connect him to her case at the time.
In 2019, the police announced that they had narrowed down all leads to a suspect in Angela’s case. Unfortunately, the evidence was not convincing enough for the District Attorney to pursue.
Angela Freeman was 5’3″ and weighed 108 pounds when she went missing. She had brown hair and blue eyes. If you have information about her disappearance, you can contact the Perry County Sheriff’s Department at 601-964-8461 or the Petal Police Department at 601-544-5331.
