On her day off, TikToker Maddie (@maddie_klecker) wanted to go shopping and treat herself to a nice, relaxing day. However, her day was ruined when she encountered multiple older, rude people.
“I just had to lie to an old lady and tell her I was pregnant so she would quit harassing me,” said Maddie. She had been browsing the purse aisle at the store when the lady in question basically body slammed her.
The lady proceeded to walk past her, turn around, and state that her generation had no respect. Maddie pointed out that she had been standing still, and there had been plenty of room to walk behind her.
She left and went to another store to look for a vase. She was alone in the middle of an aisle when a lady turned in with her shopping cart.
Maddie stepped aside to give the lady some space for her cart. Again, there was plenty of room, but the lady ended up hitting Maddie with the cart and did not apologize.
The lady gave her a mean look and told her that she could’ve moved out of the aisle. Maddie did not say anything in response. The incidents irritated Maddie to the point where she wanted to be done with shopping.
“Finally, I’m like, I’m done with this,” she said. “This is not relaxing. I’m overstimulated, I’m stressed out, and there are old people everywhere with shopping carts filled to the brim with Christmas decorations, as if they don’t already have Christmas decorations from the past 500 years they’ve been alive.”
The checkout line stretched around the store, and it took about 20 minutes of waiting in line before she reached the area where the cashiers were.
In the meantime, she had three old ladies ask to cut in front of her. She told the first two no because she didn’t want to upset everyone else waiting behind her.

But the third lady was persistent and told her that it was disrespectful to her elders to make them wait in line and that young people can stand for longer.
Maddie noticed that the lady’s cart was packed full of items, so she definitely had been standing for long enough to fill it up.
Maddie didn’t want to argue with this lady, so she looked her straight in the eyes and said that she was four months pregnant. She added that she was having complications with her pregnancy, which made standing difficult.
The lady was shocked, apologized immediately, and walked away.
“So, never again do I want to hear from the older generation that our generation has no respect because literally today made me never want to go out in public again,” she stated.
