According to TikToker Reb (@rebmasel), a woman in Kent, England, recently discovered that she had a squatter in her home. She was living in a new apartment with her two-year-old daughter.

There was a hatch in the ceiling that led to the loft, and she kept hearing footsteps up above. In addition, the hatch door was often left open.

She called her neighbors, asking around to see if they had heard or seen anything unusual, but everyone thought she was just being paranoid.

She went to the authorities to report the situation, but her concerns were dismissed, and she was reportedly prescribed antipsychotics.

Ultimately, the police did find a man squatting in her apartment. He had been breaking into her apartment and accessing the hatch. At times, he even came down into her living space during the night.

The worst part about the whole story was that she had mostly male neighbors, and one of the neighbors was friends with the guy secretly living in her apartment.

He also knew about the situation, but told the woman she was just imagining things. However, her instincts had been right all along.

“She was a single mom, 20 years old with this daughter,” said Reb. “And she would think, there’s someone watching me. She would see someone in her apartment.”

“She would wake up in the middle of the night and feel like someone was staring.”

It’s unsettling to see how easily her reality was denied. Many TikTok users shared similar experiences in the comments section.

“In Chester (England), a young girl found a man under her bed and managed to get away because her shoes had been moved, and she went to her mother’s bedroom. Unfortunately, we are taught to be scared, even at home,” commented one user.

“In a town about 45 minutes away from me in northern California, a woman was being stalked by a man over a long period of time, and he was recently caught breaking into her home at night. She woke up and found him sucking on her toes. These men need to be put down like the dogs they are. No more life,” wrote another.

“I had a man coming to my apartment. He also went into other people’s apartments and stole things. I thought I was going crazy until I found a footprint. I realized he would come into my apartment when I was working. So, I took the day off and had my dad and uncles in my apartment when I pretended to go to work. He came through the loft hatch, and my relatives caught him. The police charged him with burglary and then found out he did it to other people on the same level,” added a third.
