According to TikToker Sabrina (@tudorwithsabrina7), her granddaughter broke up with her boyfriend on the same night he proposed to her. He did not cheat on her. He actually did something way worse, in Sabrina’s opinion.
About a month ago, after they had been dating for three years, her granddaughter’s boyfriend asked her granddaughter to marry him.
She said yes, and of course, she was ecstatic to be taking the next step in their relationship. Sabrina was happy for her granddaughter but felt that she was not old enough to get married.
One evening, the young couple went over to his parents’ house for dinner. His whole family was very musical, and they all played a lot of instruments. Sabrina’s granddaughter had secretly been taking guitar lessons to surprise her fiancé and impress his family.
“The family was extremely nice to her, I mean, more than usual,” said Sabrina. “And she was just so happy that they had taken up to her, and it made her feel a tad bit more comfortable and less awkward.”
She had to leave the room to set up her surprise. When she returned, she joined in on the family’s big jam session with her guitar. They were all pleasantly surprised. But after the jam session, she happened to overhear her fiancé talking to his parents.
His mother asked him if he was sure that he wanted to marry Sabrina’s granddaughter. Then, his dad chimed in and compared her to his ex-girlfriend, who was apparently an amazing singer.
When his dad asked if he had spoken to his ex lately, he said yes.
“Her fiancé at the time goes on to say that not only had he spoken to his ex, but they had been writing a song together,” said Sabrina.
“So, she goes over there and throws that ring at him, and she leaves there, and she never speaks to him again.”
In the comments section, many TikTok users applauded Sabrina’s granddaughter for trusting her instincts and walking away from the relationship.
That one overheard conversation may have saved her from a lifetime of wondering whether she was good enough for the family.
“I am so glad your granddaughter had the strength of self-love and courage to know her worth and identify when people were not treating her as she deserved to be treated! And I am so glad you, as the grandma, are so proud of her. Having that family support is key!” commented one user.
“I’m really proud of her. I’m also sorry for how broken her heart must be. I’m glad she has a wonderful grandma like you to lean on!” exclaimed another.
“She did the right thing. I think it’s okay to keep in contact with an ex in some situations, but if he’s hiding things like that now, it’s only worse from there,” added a third.
