16-Year-Old Dies After Being Hit By A Drunk Teen While On Her Way Home From A Football Game Celebration
16-year-old Jacqueline Lee Zangrilli lived in Suffern, New York, and was a sophomore at Suffern High School.
She was athletic and excelled at field hockey and basketball. She loved to learn and was excited to be getting her driver’s permit soon.
“She had so many passions and so many plans,” her obituary reads. “Jacqueline’s greatest strength was making others feel good.”
“She was an affectionate person who was generous with her hugs. While her life was cut short in tragedy, she lived big, she did a lot, and she will never be far from our hearts.”
This past Saturday, Jacqueline attended a football game with her friends. After their team won, Jacqueline and her friends decided to celebrate before heading home.
Jacqueline and 4 other high schoolers were inside of a car driving down Rt.202 located in the Village of Montebello when tragedy struck.

A 17-year-old boy driving a Jaguar hit the car that Jacqueline and her friends were in, causing their car to hit a telephone pole before flipping over sideways at around 2 a.m.
Jacqueline’s 4 friends were rushed to Westchester Medical Center and Nyack Hospital to be treated for their injuries, but sadly Jacqueline died at the scene.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the 17-year-old male driver from Suffern, NY was intoxicated,” the Town of Ramapo Police Department said in a statement.

“He was transported from Nyack Hospital to the Ramapo Police Department for arrest processing.”
“The driver, whose identity will be withheld due to his juvenile status, was charged with Manslaughter 2nd, Assault 2nd, Vehicular Assault 1st, Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd and DWI.”
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and is expected to take some time to complete.”
“The male driver was arraigned virtually this afternoon in Rockland County Youth Superior Court. He was released on his own recognizance and will return to court on Monday April 26, 2021.”
“Jacqueline was special in so many ways,” Patrice McDonald-Brophy wrote on a GoFundMe page created to help cover Jacqueline’s funeral expenses for her family.
“She was an incredible daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend. Jacqueline was full of life. Anyone that met Jacqueline, loved her.”
“She made others smile in an instant and was quick to bring on laughter in a room. Jacqueline loved school and was very involved in sports.”
