She Was Killed By Her Ex In The Parking Lot Of Her Job And Now Her Family Is Trying To Raise Awareness For Domestic Violence
19-year-old Haven Trevino lived in Lubbock, Texas. She had a young son named Ezra that she gave birth to in 2019.
Her middle name was Hailey. She worked at an Italian restaurant. She was loving and loyal.
She was a wonderful mom who enjoyed teaching her son new things, and her family meant everything to her.
“Weekly dinners at her mom’s were a special tradition,” Haven’s obituary reads. “She loved to travel, enjoyed being outdoors with her son, dancing, singing, and hanging out with her family.”
“Haven will always be remembered for her big personality, loud and radiant laugh, and a great sense of humor.”
“Her ability to light up any room is what we’ll miss the most—her strong hugs that made us feel at home and her love that was unconditional.”
In the months before Haven was murdered, she had tried to cut ties with the person who was hurting her.

Haven had been in a relationship with 20-year-old Isaiah Isaiah Mesa. According to court documents filed by CPS, Isaiah had gotten physical with Haven while Ezra was there.
Isaiah had allegedly doused Haven’s clothes with bleach, resulting in Ezra getting a chemical burn from it. He had also given Haven a black eye.
Haven tried to leave Isaiah multiple times, and she was able to ultimately end things with him for good in the months leading up to her murder.
She wanted nothing more than to make the best life for herself and her son, but Isaiah wasn’t willing to let her go. He allegedly called her incessantly and vandalized her car after she left him.

On November 12th, 2020, Haven got in her car and drove to Orlando’s Italian Restaurant, where she was about to start her shift.
She didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before Isaiah walked right up to her car and fired several shots at her as she was still inside.
“Officers responded to a call for service for shots fired at the restaurant,” the Lubbock Police Department said in a statement.

“Officers arrived and located 19-year-old Haven Trevino suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.”
“Shortly after 12:20 p.m., LPD dispatch received an additional call for service regarding a suicidal male at 102 N. Avenue P. The caller also indicated the male had killed his girlfriend.”
“Officers responded and located 20-year-old Isaiah Mesa with a self-inflicted life-threatening gunshot wound.”
“Officers quickly determined the calls were related and Mesa was the suspect from the shooting at Orlando’s.”
“Trevino was transported by EMS to University Medical Center and was later pronounced deceased. Mesa was also transported by EMS to University Medical Center for his injuries.”

Last month, Haven would have been 20-years-old. In the aftermath of her murder, Haven’s family has organized donations to a local women’s shelter in honor of her.
“We feel that a beautiful way to honor our sweet Haven and her story would be to reach out a “helping hand from Haven” to a mother and child in need who may be fleeing domestic violence like Haven did with Ezra so many times with nothing but the clothes on their backs,” Haven’s Aunt Kim said on Facebook.
“It is our wish to make a large donation to a women’s shelter in Lubbock in Haven’s name on her birthday March 30th and something we plan to do each year in her memory.”
“If you love someone in this type of relationship, SPEAK YOUR MIND,” Kim continued. “Don’t let them “learn their lesson on their own.”…Respectfully tell them “ I love you but I don’t agree with your decision, but you will always have a safe place here.” Let them know that and keep that communication open.”
“Haven always knew her family’s home was her safe place and for that we have no regrets.”
