She Was Stabbed In The Back and Forced To Deliver Her Baby Just 5 Months Into Her Pregnancy But Thankfully They Have Both Been Discharged From The Hospital
Atlanta, Georgia. On the night of June 5th this year, Valerie Kasper took her 3-year-old son Benjamin to the Peachtree Creek Greenway so they enjoy the first night of summer break together.
Valerie was 5 months into her pregnancy with her second child at the time, and she was expecting to spend the summer months ahead of her getting ready for baby number two.
As Valerie and Benjamin were walking along with nature path, a strange man approached them, trying to talk to them.
Valerie attempted to get herself and her son away from the man when suddenly, he pulled a knife out and attacked.
The man ended up stabbing Valerie in her back multiple times, but thankfully, Benjamin was unharmed in the attack.

“From there she was rushed to the ER at the hospital and had to have an emergency c section AND an invasive surgery on her organs to repair their functioning,” Nicole Robertson, a friend of Valerie’s, wrote on a GoFundMe page.
Several days after Valerie was attacked, 30-year-old Christopher Jones was arrested by the Brookhaven Police Department.
He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree.

Christopher was denied bond, and as he sat behind bars at the DeKalb County jail, Valerie was still lying in a hospital bed, and her newborn son was in the NICU.

Valerie was released from the hospital after about a week of being there to undergo several procedures, but her baby, whom she and her husband named Theodore Jude, was unable to be released.
Theodore had to have two different procedures done on his intestines, he had something called a ventricular assist device implanted into his head to take out excess fluid that had built up there, and he also had a shunt placed.

He was diagnosed with a brain bleed, and he required oxygen and a feeding tube. Theodore’s entry into the world was met with many challenges, and after spending months in the NICU, he recently was able to go home to his family.
“We finally made it home! Friday, October 8,” Valerie wrote in an update on October 14th. “Thank you to Egleston NICU! So many nurses, doctors, and specialists came by to say goodbye. They loved our boy so much and we couldn’t be here without the amazing team and hospital.”

“Thank you to all our family, friends, and all the people cheering us on near and far. We wouldn’t be here without you too. Seeing our son Benjamin meet his baby brother has been the sweetest.
Now we begin the next chapter.”
“Theodore came home on 1/4 oxygen, feeding tube for every 3 hours feeds that are fortified, apnea and heart monitor that is like a fire alarm if he does not breath for 20 seconds or his heart rate drops below 60. His meds include caffeine for his apnea, acid reflux meds, and a vitamin.”
Although Theodore is at home with his family now, he still requires a lot of medical care and his family is going to be getting a nurse to help them.
