This Teen Weighs 55 Pounds And Has Been Suffering From An Eating Disorder For Years: Her Family Was Told To Put Her In Hospice But Now They’re Turning To The Internet For Help

Schenectady, New York. Carly is a 19-year-old young woman who has been suffering from an eating disorder for years.

She heartbreakingly weighs just 55 pounds, and her family has been told by medical professionals to just put her in hospice.

For those of you who might not know, hospice is the kind of medical care reserved for patients with a terminal illness, meaning, they aren’t expected to live.

Not wanting to give up on their daughter, Carly’s parents are now turning to the internet for help, and they are extremely interested in hearing from anyone that might have some solutions for how to help Carly since hospice isn’t it.

First, let’s go back to 2015 when Carly was 13-years-old and in 7th grade. At this point in her life, Carly’s parents said that they thought Carly was getting bullied, which resulted in her parents getting her counseling.

The following year, Carly was admitted to the Four Winds in Saratoga, since her parents wanted to try to find a solution for her anxiety in depression.

After Carly was discharged from Four Winds, her parents kept up with her counseling.

They then learned that during school, Carly would skip lunch and walk around the hallways instead of eating.

Currently, Carly is in an outpatient program, and on a GoFundMe page created for Carly, her parents said that she is “struggling with anorexia and OCD for over 5 years but is officially undiagnosed due to other underlying comorbidities.”

“Right now she has two tubes a J-tube and G-Tube and a permanent suprapubic catheter,” Carly’s parents explained. “She has seen over 25 psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists.”

“At this point, we can’t find anyone who can and is willing to help her further. The medical profession has failed our daughter. Dr.’s and hospital legal teams have insisted the best thing to do is to call HOSPICE.”

“Insurance companies have prevented eating disorder facilities from accepting her, even after we’ve said we would pay out of pocket.”

Despite behind told to put Carly in hospice, her parents are continuing to fight to get Carly the help she desperately needs instead of giving up.

“Our insurance has failed us and the court system has failed our right to reserve our right to have our daughter be given nutrients,” Carly’s parents said.

“Our legal and medical bills fighting for our daughter’s life have become overwhelming. Please help in any way you can with any advice, information, or a donation.”

Carly’s parents have created a GoFundMe page to help with their medical and legal bills for Carly, and they also have created a website too.

Carly’s parents are hoping to get advice and suggestions from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation to Carly’s since that seems to be their only hope.
