This Zero Waste Organization Has Helped Local Schools Keep Over 90% Of Their Garbage Out Of Landfills

They even sell the resulting homemade organic compost to community members, which helps fund their future efforts.

But the program is at risk of shutting down due to a lack of funding. So, how can we ensure this great experiment continues leading the way in green waste management?

The program decided to make a GoFundMe in the hopes of raising $50,000 to keep the good work going.

Their initial post explained where this funding would be funneled; “[it] will be used to support the trained staff members who manage all organic processing daily, and educate the next generation of environmental leaders.”

The page is currently at almost $18,000 in donations, but they still are more than halfway from meeting their goal.

One commenter expressed their excitement for the project and was grateful to have learned about it through the GoFundMe.

They wrote, “I went to your website and was so impressed with your program from philosophy to implementation that I was inspired to donate.”

To learn more about this fantastic program, you can head to the website or even watch this video tour of the hot composting facility. And you can donate to their GoFundMe here.
