Apparently, the man’s wife apologized to Hawk and said she tried to stop her husband from “doing the joke.” Clearly, the man was in on the shenanigans.

Afterward, the couple exited the elevator, and Hawk was left with the third stranger inside.

“The other guy asked, ‘What’s the joke?’ I told him I get my identity mistaken a lot,” Hawk wrote.

The stranger asked Hawk who he gets mistaken for, and, of course, he said, “Tony Hawk.”

Still, the stranger never put two and two together. Instead, he simply laughed and said, “You do look like him!”

Tony Hawk was shocked yet again.

“The elevator stops again; he exits on his floor. I am left alone, heading upwards and feeling perplexed,” Hawk finished his hilarious story.

Fans and followers everywhere went wild over his Tweet. The short story received over three hundred thousand likes and seventeen thousand retweets.

The Twitter community also continued the hysterical thread by adding more mistaken identity stories and memes.
