Her Fiancé Completely Lied To Her Face About Racking Up $15,000 Of Credit Card Debt In Under A Year

Growing up, a 26-year-old woman was always asked to lie to her dad when it came down to money. Her mom would spend money like crazy on her credit cards, and not tell her dad the truth about her spending.
Her mom also roped her into covering for her, so now that she’s an adult, she cannot stand anyone who lies about money as her mom did when she was younger.
She is currently engaged to her 31-year-old fiancé, and she has been with him for more than 5 years.
From the beginning, she told her fiancé that she never wanted him to lie about money, and she expected that he was following her request to just be honest.
“I’m very serious about absolutely never having credit card debt and I try to be responsible with money,” she explained.
“I also have periodically asked my fiancé if he’s in any debt (like if a random TikTok about credit card debt comes on, things like that) and he all always says no.”
3 years ago, her fiancé’s dad passed away and her fiancé ended up inheriting the house that he had lived in.
She and her fiancé currently live in this house, and they have been working on getting it renovated.
A few months ago, her fiancé decided to refinance the house so he could get money to use to pay for a second home for them, as well as have money to put more finishing touches on their house so they can rent it out.

As they discussed how much they had to spend on those finishing touches, she noticed the money her fiancé claimed that they had left to spend was far beneath what he originally told her.
She asked him what was going on, and he quickly got mad at her before trying to deflect and say he wasn’t sure what she meant since it was always “the same” amount of money.
That was the end of that conversation, and later that evening, her fiancé told her the truth, and it was pretty ugly. Apparently, he really was in debt, yet he had lied right to her face about it.
“He came clean and told me he had racked up 15k in credit card debt and he used the refinance money to pay it off,” she said.
“He said he’s racked up that debt since July of 2021 and I still can’t wrap my head around what he spent the money on.”
“Yes we go on vacations and go out to dinner often (although it’s never anything very excessive) and I always pay my half for the trips we go on and I pay for a fair amount of meals.”
She makes the same exact salary that he does, and she always pays for half of the vacations they go on.
Her fiancé tried to guilt-trip her by insisting he spent that $15,000 to keep her “happy” which she finds confusing.
She has no clue where all of this money even went, and this is not the first time her fiancé has lied to her about acquiring debt on his credit cards.
3 years ago, he spent $10,000 on a credit card he opened in her name since his credit was too bad to get his own.
“I feel like I should leave, but it’s so hard to even begin to think about separating my life from his,” she continued.
“I love him so much, he’s my best friend in the entire world. We’ve lived together for 5 years, we have 2 cats together, renovated an entire house together.”
She doesn’t want to cut him out of her life, but she can no longer trust him.
Do you think she should end her engagement, or do you think he deserves a third chance here?
