She did her best to stay away from her stepdaughter while finishing up what she was doing when she noticed that her stepdaughter was stealing makeup and putting it right into her bag.
She stood there as her stepdaughter and then her stepdaughter’s friends continued stealing different items.
At last, her stepdaughter realized that she was witnessing what they were doing. Her stepdaughter quickly made her way to the front of the store to buy some candy, yet she didn’t pay for what she had stolen.
She found the store’s security guard and told this person about what her stepdaughter had just done, assuming she could scare her straight.
“Long story short, they called the police and apparently they had been building a case on her and her friends for a few months now and she had stolen several hundred dollars of merchandise,” she said.
“They were basically waiting for it to hit a certain amount so it was worth pursuing if I understand it correctly.”
“My boyfriend is super super mad and is saying I should have just spoken to her and told her the risks instead because since the police is involved now, they will pursue it for sure and it will probably destroy her future at the college she’s worked very hard to get into.”
The thing is, even if this wasn’t her stepdaughter who stole something, she would have gone right to the security guard regardless.
Everyone is making her feel bad for just trying to do the right thing here. Do you think she should have kept quiet considering it was her stepdaughter doing this?
