This means that Natasha suffers from allergic reactions constantly, and the most random things can set them off.
In one of her TikTok videos, Natasha says that one day she could be feeling perfectly fine, and then the next day, she could be in the intensive care unit.
Although Natasha describes living with the syndrome as “Russian roulette,” not ever knowing what will cause her to have one of her reactions, there are certain things that can trigger them.
For example, strong smells and perfumes can sometimes not only cause a reaction but cause one that’s so severe it sends Natasha to the hospital.
But sometimes, it’s changes in her own body that can cause a reaction. In a video for BBC Three, Natasha revealed that even something like her hair growing causes a flare-up.
“I’m allergic to my hair growing,” she says. “So when it does start to grow, it blisters and burns, and it’s absolute agony.”
Although her condition is extreme and often presents her with disruptions, Natasha is determined to show the world that MCAS will not stop her from pursuing her passions and being successful.
To this day, Natasha participates in disability gymnastics and has won 22 British titles and 38 British medals.
“I’ve been able to show other people that disabled people can do amazing things just given the opportunity,” says Natasha.
