“I plugged in ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, and I just started singing. That’s what it was,” Richard said humbly.
Mariah Denehie, a coworker of Richard’s, was who captured the performance and later posted it on TikTok.
The video has since garnered three million views and four hundred and twenty-two thousand likes. It has also prompted nearly sixteen thousand comments.
“This is better than half of what’s on the radio,” commented one user.
“What a voice!!! Spectacular!!!” agreed a second user.
“This is so wholesome and fantastic. My English teacher used to sing our assignments to us. I will never forget that, and neither will these kiddos,” shared a third.
And after word of Richard’s performance began circulating the internet, Steve Perry himself watched the entire thing.
He re-shared the footage on Twitter before sharing his thoughts.
“I love this,” Steve Perry wrote.
