His Girlfriend Just Learned That He’s Not Really Rich Like She Thought, And Ever Since, She Hasn’t Been Acting Right
A 25-year-old guy has an older sister who is a decade older than him. His sister is from his mom’s first marriage, and he’s from his mom’s second marriage.
As far back as he can remember, his sister never had anything to do with her biological father or her biological father’s family.
His sister’s biological father seems to be a terrible human being. His sister’s father is so atrocious that his sister’s grandparents wanted nothing to do with him either.
6 years ago, his sister’s grandpa sadly passed away, and he was insanely rich. His sister’s grandpa chose to leave his entire fortune to his sister and to his sister’s aunt, so now, his sister has a ton of money.
“My sister is amazing,” he explained. “She has been more than generous with her inheritance. I don’t talk too much about money or the situation, and it rarely comes up.”
“I can see how from the outside, it now appears me and my parents are wealthy. My sister bought my parents a nice house in an expensive area.”
“She helped out our dad (our dad is our dad to both of us, he has been her dad since she was less than a year old) start his own business instead of being an employee. He makes about the same, but now he has much more freedom. He is not rich.”
His sister is so incredibly generous with him and their parents, and his sister spends a lot of money taking them on vacation.
He also currently lives in one of the homes that his sister inherited when her grandpa passed away, and it’s somewhere in the suburbs.

His sister doesn’t charge him rent, and he lives there completely free. The house is so nice that there’s no way anyone his age could really ever afford to buy it, and he certainly wouldn’t be able to live there without his sister’s generosity.
Another house his sister inherited sits on a lake, and he and his family spent a lot of time there. It was at that lake that he wound up meeting his girlfriend after he was introduced to her by some mutual friends that they have. His girlfriend never knew that the lake house belongs to his sister, and he has never felt like he was obligated to explain all of that to his girlfriend at all, let alone his sister’s financial situation.
When his girlfriend recently asked if she could use the lake house for a girl’s weekend, he informed her that it doesn’t really belong to his parents at all and that it belongs to his sister.
“After finding this out, she has asked more questions,” he said. “At one point she said something about selling “my” house and moving more downtown into the city.”
“She was pretty weirded out when I explained I don’t own this house. Then more questions. She was obviously under the impression that my parents and I are rich. She was also kind of annoyed that I didn’t inherit anything. I explained that they were not my grandparents and I only ever met them a couple of times and that they probably knew my awesome sister would hook me up.”
As soon as his girlfriend learned the truth about him not being really rich, she hasn’t been acting right. He thinks his girlfriend is treating him like she’s been let down, and he knows if he mentioned this to his loved ones, they would instantly label her as a gold digger.
“How can I figure out if she was attracted to the money I don’t have? I feel so defeated,” he concluded.
